LONDON and OSLO, May 26 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ –
Telenor Pakistan Chooses Incatel’s NIMS to Help Support
the Roll-Out of New Mobile Network
Incatel, a provider of convergent network and service inventory management
solutions, announced today that it had been selected by Telenor Pakistan and
its network infrastructure provider, Siemens Information and Communication
Mobile (Siemens Mobile), to supply its convergent inventory solution to help
the roll-out of a new mobile network.
Telenor Pakistan was awarded one of the new GSM mobile licenses in Pakistan
in May 2004. Telenor Pakistan hopes to capitalise on the huge potential mobile
market in Pakistan, where just 3 per cent of the 141 million population uses
mobile telephony at present.
Incatel is now working with Siemens Mobile to deliver Incatel’s NIMS
convergent inventory solution. Initially, NIMS will be used to record and
manage the physical assets deployed in the networks built by Siemens and Nokia.
In the longer term, NIMS will be used to plan access and core network circuits
to support radio network expansions, and ensure continuity of service (service
assurance).
Dir. Usman Qureshi, Director Network Planning & Design at Telenor Pakistan,
said: "When you invest as much as we have into a network, it is essential that
to have the right solutions to plan and manage assets in that network.
Incatel’s inventory solution goes beyond handling physical resources, it will
allow us to manage the logical resources, providing us with a unique converged
view of our network."
Arnhild Schia, CEO of Incatel, said: "Since opening our first Asia/Pacific
office in Singapore, Incatel has experienced a huge interest from operators in
the region, and in particular from mobile operators. We are very pleased to be
working with an experienced partner such as Siemens Mobile on such an exciting
and critical project."
