BANGKOK, May 26 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ –

Businesses and governments must work together in the event of a mass
fatality crisis, Robert Jensen, President of Kenyon International Emergency
Services, told attendees at a Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) luncheon
here yesterday. "That was the principal lesson learned from Kenyon’s
involvement in the tsunami that affected parts of Thailand in December, 2004."

"Today, almost every crisis — natural or human — has international
implications," Jensen said, "and companies need a consequence management plan
that takes that into account and involves all of its business partners. What we
learned from the tsunami," he said, "was that governments alone can not manage
all aspects of a crisis, particularly ones that involve mass fatalities from
different countries."

"That same thing is more true," Jensen noted, "of most companies who may
not have the resources or the present day experience to manage a crisis that
involves multiple business partners, multiple languages and multiple ways of
dealing with victims or their families. That is why working together with your
partners and your governments is so important, because you can pool resources
and experiences."

Jensen told attendees: "If you haven’t done a risk audit, if you don’t have
an up-to-date crisis management system with a consequence management plan that
involves your own personnel and your external business partners and if you
haven’t conducted training, you are not doing your job. Given the disastrous
effects that a crisis, unmanaged, can have on all your stakeholders —
employees, customers, stockholders and partners — and your reputation, there
is simply no option to not having a plan."

Kenyon continues its support of Australia, Thailand and other countries,
with systems and materials to assist and the Thai government in identifying
victims of the tsunami and in repatriating non-Thai citizens. Kenyon
International Emergency Services, Inc. is the world leader in disaster response
co-ordination services, with offices in Houston, London, Sydney and Singapore.
