Official Opening of the Hanoi Office Promotes Taiwan-Vietnam Cooperation
Over Life Insurance Opportunities

Under the initiatives of both Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance (MOF) and
Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission, Nanshan Life, a Taiwan based life
insurance company, officially opens a representative office in Hanoi, Vietnam.
On May 31, Nanshan Life will host an opening which will be attended by
dignitaries from Vietnamese MOF. Both parties believe that the launch of
Nanshan Life Hanoi office will significantly promote exchange in life insurance
operations in Taiwan and Vietnam. Nanshan Life also hopes to eventually set up
a local subsidiary to service the Vietnam public with its more than forty
decades of insurance expertise in Taiwan.

Nanshan Life was established in Taiwan in July 1963. The company has
already set up 19 subsidiaries, over 300 liaison offices and a comprehensive
service network covering Taiwan during its forty years of professional
insurance experience. With booked total assets of NT$89.6 billion in Taiwan as
of March 2005, Nanshan Life has met the insurance and wealth management needs
of 3.4 million Taiwanese residents through over 6.7 million effective
policies. In the first quarter of this year, it took the leading position in
Taiwan’s insurance industry with insurance premium revenue of NT$28.93 billion,
accounting 22.6% of the local insurance market.

Nanshan Life has won accreditation from key international organizations
with its professional quality service and expertise. It’s "Claim Operations",
"Staff Accreditationin Life Insurance", and "Customer Service Call Center" have
all been awarded ISO9001 certificates for quality assurance, and have continued
to undergo regular assessment. Being the only Taiwanese insurance company
passing the ISO9001 certification for quality assurance in terms of "Staff
Accreditationin Life insurance", Nanshan Life has also received the
"Educational Achievement Award" from the US-based Life Office Management
Association (LOMA) for the 9th time in its history to affirm its practices in
the areas of staff training and development.

Chen Runlin, General Manager of Nanshan Life, who had been chief executive
of corporations in 7 countries in the Southeast Asia region, played an
important role in the development of the insurance industry within the region.
He said the opening of Nanshan Life’s Hanoi office would greatly enhance the
