SMC Products Demonstrate Emerging Home Network Solutions at Computex-2005

network offerings at Computex-2005. Branded under SMC Networks, a subsidiary
of Accton Technology, solutions cover: digital home, Quality of Service (QoS)

Digital Home Solution
Through the combined solution of SMC’s Internet Set Top Box, Audio Receiver
and ADSL 2+ Wireless Router, home users are now able to converge content from
their PC and the Internet onto their Home Audio and Video systems. Based on
802.11 technology video, photo, and audio files can now be enjoyed on home
entertainment systems.

QoS Solution
Centered on SMC’s QoS dual WAN Gateway and newly released Home Plug(R)
products, applications like voice and video streaming which require QoS within
the home network can now receive dedicated bandwidth. With a push of a button
on the SMC Gateway, this bandwidth for quality intensive applications is
automatically configured. In addition to QoS ability, 2WAN ports are also
provided on the router to allow multiple broadband modems to be used for twice
the bandwidth.

Home VoIP Solution
As VoIP continues to quickly gain market adoption, SMC’s integrated
wireless router provides a single phone port that allows users to use any
normal POTS telephone. In addition to VoIP functionalities, the device also
acts as an Integrated Access Device (IAD) through its 4-port router, 802.11g
Access Point and ADSL 2 capabilities.
