LUND, Sweden, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ –

In line with its new, expanded business strategy, ADITUS Medical today
announced the acquisition of a strategic Electroporation patent family. The
company has reached an agreement with Professor Bertil R.R. Persson to acquire
one of his core patents combining Electroporation with Radio therapy.

Anders Johnsson, Managing Director at ADITUS Medical explains: "There are
several reasons why this patent is strategic for ADITUS Medical. Apart from
the method combining Electroporation and Radio therapy, it also contains a
strategic priority date and several electrode configurations useful for us and
our customers."

This acquisition is supported by ADITUS’ new business strategy, revealed
earlier this summer, where the company will continue to strengthen its IP
portfolio by in-licensing of selected complementary and patented technologies.
This in combination with several new patent applications resulting from
extensive R&D activities will bring ADITUS Medical to a leading technology
position in its field of business.

"By this acquisition we prove our commitment to CythorLab and Intelligent
Electroporation. We are now in a very strong position to begin licensing
discussions around our technology platforms with pharmaceutical-, biotech- and
medical device companies who need an improved drug- or gene delivery method
which is safe and effective" concludes Mr. Johnsson.

Electroporation is a well-known method for delivery of large molecules,
such as therapeutic drugs or genes into the cells. It temporarily opens up
small pathways (pores) in the cell membrane barrier by using very brief,
intense electrical pulses. Electroporation has great advantages in terms of
safety and reliability compared to other transfer methods like viral vectors
and other non-viral methods.

Professor Bertil R.R. Persson is one of the leading experts on
electroporation in conjunction with other technologies such as impedance
measurement and radio therapy. Professor Persson’s long experience in clinical
radiation physics combined with biological methods has led to a number of
interesting discoveries in the fields of cancer treatment and gene therapy.

Founded in 1997, ADITUS Medical is a pioneer in the field of Intelligent
Electroporation and a leading provider of flexible, easy-to-use and powerful
Electroporation devices for research and laboratory use in vivo & in vitro.
Based on its patented technology for Impedance Controlled Electroporation,
ADITUS develops unique devices using the impedance measurement as a feedback
for optimum setup and control of the Electroporation process.
