LONDON, March 30 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ –
World-first encryption suite for Australasian region
Identum, developer of the Private Post email encryption range, has signed a
distribution agreement with WhiteGold, Australia’s premier IT security
distributor. The two companies will work together to bring a variety of Private
Post business applications to the Australasian market.
Karl Feilder, CEO of Identum was in Australia earlier this month to
finalise the agreement. "Encryption has become the email buzzword of 2006," he
said. "In future we’ll look back and laugh at how naïve we were to send so
much sensitive data about our businesses and our customers via unencrypted
email."
He said Identum had chosen to partner with WhiteGold as they had great
traction in the security sector. "WhiteGold is one of the most exciting
distributors we’ve met around the world. They’re plugged right into the
security reseller channel with a well-rounded and exciting offering that gives
us a positive introduction to the market. This is a particularly active
territory. I was impressed at how receptive everyone was to email encryption,
from leading IT users to government ministers. Australia certainly operates at
the leading edge of technology."
He described Identum as the company that was retro-fitting a vital piece
of internet infrastructure. "When the internet was originally assembled
everyone knew that data must be encrypted and authenticated but they didn’t
know how to do it. They couldn’t foresee that the world would come to rely on
email. According to IDC, nearly 84 billion emails will be sent daily worldwide
in 2006 and nearly two-thirds of them will be spam. It’s bad enough that 75%
of the internet’s bandwidth is being wasted, but the real concern is that e-
fraud is getting worse, not better."
Dominic Whitehand, WhiteGold’s managing director, said the Private Post
range would enhance the company’s existing strong portfolio of specialist IT
security products. "Private Post is based on the most advanced encryption
technology today, a combination of the AES 256-bit cryptosystem and a
sophisticated breakthrough in key exchange that makes encryption a reality for
every email user. It helps us to set the bar high for the local market."
Private Post for Business is an integrated suite that includes Private
Post for Outlook, Private Post for Outlook Express, Private Post Reader for
Windows XP and the Private Post Network Deployment Wizard. Multiple licence
packs are available for between 5 and 250 users. These can be used together to
scale to any number of users for the SME, corporate and enterprise sectors.
Postmaster General allows solution providers to integrate unprecedented
email privacy either from gateway-to-gateway, desktop-to-desktop, or any
combination they choose. It allows developers to include a fully customised
and compliant email encryption scheme with any content management, SPAM, virus
filtering or firewall appliance.
Identum will be presenting Private Post on the WhiteGold stand at the
AusCERT Asia Pacific Information Technology Security Conference in May this
year.
