SYDNEY, May 30/ MediaNet International - AsiaNet/ –

Australian sports fans will be able to support the Qantas Socceroos with
Telstra HeroMessage during their campaign in Germany as they compete for
Football’s biggest prize.

Launched today by Socceroo Lucas Neill, Telstra HeroMessage will give the
nation its first ever opportunity to send inspirational messages to the
Australian team.

“The support we received last year in Australia for the qualifiers was
incredible and helped us qualify for Germany,” Mr Neill said. “We are hoping
this support will continue with the HeroMessage program while we are away from
home and playing against the world’s best.”

This is the first time Telstra will provide the HeroMessage service for an
individual sporting event.

“It’s an honour to be the first individual team to be able to have this
experience and one that I’m sure will give us a great advantage.

“The team will be looking forward to receiving messages from hometown fans
and we hope that all Australians can support the team through Telstra
HeroMessage,” Mr Neill said.

Telstra Group Managing Director Business and Government, Mr David Thodey
said the HeroMessage service was another example of how Telstra gives
Australians more ways of staying in touch and communicating.

“With the Socceroos competing on the other side of the world, Telstra is
delighted to be able to provide Australians with the opportunity to connect to
their football heroes via mobile or online.

“Whether they send their messages by text, picture or video, we encourage
all Australians to show their support.”

Telstra HeroMessage has been linking Australian sports fans, no matter where
they are cheering from for more than 16 years. HeroMessage lets friends,
family and fans use the latest Telstra technology to send SMS, picture
messages, videomessages (MMS) or e-mail to encouragement the Australian team.
