SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ –

CE-ATA Working Group to Demonstrate Broad Array of Products that Support
CE-ATA Standard at the Intel Developers Forum, September 26-28 in
San Francisco

The CE-ATA Working Group, an industry consortium comprised of technology
industry leaders such as, Hitachi, Intel, Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), Nokia,
Seagate and Toshiba today announced the maturation of the CE-ATA ecosystem,
which includes CE-ATA hard disk drives (HDD), host controllers, cables,
connectors, test equipment, IP cores, verification suites, and handheld
consumer electronic products, providing further validation for the continued
standardization and adoption of the CE-ATA protocol.

The CE-ATA protocol was developed as a standard interface for small form
factor disk drives that addresses the needs of the handheld and consumer
electronic market segments. Today’s announcement not only demonstrates the
industry’s ongoing support for the protocol, but signifies the viability of a
market environment that encourages the development of consumer products on the
CE-ATA standard. Eight CE-ATA member companies (Arasan, embWise, Intelliprop,
Jinvani, Marvell, QuickLogic, Seagate and Synopsys) are sponsoring a booth
demonstrating CE-ATA components, as well as a range of products supporting
CE-ATA at the Intel Developers Forum (IDF), Booth #1002, being held September
26-28 in San Francisco.

"More than ever, consumers are interested in taking their entertainment
with them, whether it’s music, movies, TV shows, games, or just the collection
of family photos," said Rob Pait director, global consumer electronics
marketing at Seagate. "Seagate sees the CE-ATA interface as a key enabler of
mobile storage, and will be implementing the interface on high-capacity drives
designed for the next generation of personal media systems."

As consumers demand more sophisticated handheld consumer electronic
devices with smaller form factors, the need for increased storage capabilities
at the device level will continue to grow. Via its low pin count, favorable
signaling voltages, and efficient protocol, CE-ATA enables consumer
electronics manufacturers to develop products that more efficiently integrate
cost-effective high capacity storage in a small form factor, with improved
battery life versus solutions that utilize traditional handheld HDD interface
technology.

"The CE-ATA Working Group has been instrumental in preparing the handheld
and consumer electronics marketplace for the advent of a more efficient small
form factor interface," said Fawzi Masri, Chairman of the CE-ATA marketing
committee. "Technology leaders from all levels of the CE-ATA ecosystem are
mobilizing to support the creation and the development of consumer electronics
devices and consumers will be the ultimate beneficiaries of the technology."

Consumer electronic devices integrating the CE-ATA interface are expected
to be available by early next year.

About the CE-ATA Working Group
Established in 2004, the CE-ATA Working Group is made up of 91 member
companies dedicated to fostering an ecosystem conducive to the development and
creation of devices built upon the CE-ATA standard. The CE-ATA Working Group
is chartered with developing a storage interface tailored to the needs of
small form factor disk drives in portable consumer electronics applications.
