Global Classrooms is an innovative educational program of the United Nations
Association of the USA, in partnership with Merrill Lynch
What: Through the Global Classrooms program, the United Nations
Association of the USA and Merrill Lynch are bringing the
Model UN experience to public schools across the United
States and a diverse array of schools around the world. The
popularity of Model UN simulations in New Delhi has increased
over the last ten years at both the university and high
school level, yet these conferences are mostly sponsored by
private institutions. The United Nations Association of the
USA’s Global Classrooms program in New Delhi, however,
extends the Model UN experience to students of both public
and private institutions.
Who: 600 attendees including: 400 New Delhi students, 120 teacher
advisors and 80 university-level "secretariat" staff.

Delhi Public Schools Society; Dr. Shyama Chona, principal,
Delhi Public Schools, RK Puram; Priti Gulati, vice president
at DSP Merrill Lynch Ltd., Dr. Lucia Rodriguez, vice
president for Education, United Nations Association of the
USA; Mr. Kapil Sibal, union minister for science &
technology; and Ms. Shalini Dewan, director, UN Information
Center, New Delhi.
