WELLINGTON, Dec. 20/NZPA-AsiaNet/ –
Mobile content producers are welcoming a new and independent global on-line
market where they can sell and communicate directly with buyers.
The site, voeveo.com, gives producers of audio, video, games, images and
applications free access to growing consumer demand for original product for
mobile phones and wireless devices.
Currently in beta, voeveo.com is accepting producer content uploads. Buyers can
shop on-line and purchase content by mid-January 2007.
On the site producers own their content, run their business with on-site tools,
set their own prices, interact directly with buyers and retain 72.5 per cent of
sales.
“Our open-market is a big turning point for the mobile phone industry for
on-line buying and selling of multi-media products,” says Andrew Clapham,
voeveo.com director.
“We’ve developed a user-driven marketplace where the most successful content
will be that which an active community creates under its own impetus.
“Until now, producers have lacked an efficient market where buyers can find
exactly what they want at the right price and deal directly with preferred
suppliers.”
The commission rate for originators is one aspect of the new site that excites
Ben Northrop, a partner of content aggregator and distributor, Happy Fingers.
“It puts producers higher up the food chain, plus it offers a content
management system and a doorway to worldwide consumers prepared to pay for more
innovative and original material,” he says.
“This is a much-needed trade model for content creators eager to work
independently of traditional carrier pipelines and promote their work directly
to end-users.”
Mark Stope, a principal of media design studio Sli-Fi, says the voeveo open
market concept breathes new life into the mobile content industry.
“It has the potential to revolutionise the way content producers connect with
customers and, most importantly, vice-versa,” he says.
“For the first time independent owners of quality material can now enter a
market primed to explode with new talent and customised content.”
