NEW YORK, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ –
Platts, the world’s leading energy information provider, will not publish
spot price assessments for Americas crude oil and refined products and certain
metals on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 in observance of the national day of mourning
for President Gerald R. Ford.
Platts reached its decision based on feedback it received from the market.
In a survey of traders, Platts concluded that the closure Tuesday of the New
York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) in observance of the day of mourning, and its
concurrent decision not to produce contract settlements, would result in
extremely limited cash trading.
Platts metals division will not publish a copper composite price, US copper
producer cathode price, or US copper producer refined price as a result of the
Jan. 2, 2007 closure of the COMEX division of NYMEX.
Platts’ spot price assessments of natural gas, electricity, power, coal,
emissions, petrochemicals, and other grades of metals will be compiled and
published as normal on Tuesday.
